How Much Does 3D Rendering Cost?

One of the first questions people ask when considering architectural visualisation is, "How much will a 3D render cost?"

The answer depends on much more than the number of images required.

What affects the cost of 3D rendering?

Several factors influence the work involved.

The starting information: A project with an existing, usable 3D model may require less preparation than one supplied as a collection of 2D drawings.

The level of detail: A straightforward exterior view has different requirements from a complex interior featuring custom joinery, decorative lighting and detailed finishes.

The number of images: Once a 3D environment has been created, additional camera angles can sometimes be produced more efficiently than building completely separate scenes.

The intended use: A concept image for an early design discussion may require a different level of finishing from a high-resolution image for a property marketing campaign.

Design changes: Modifications to an approved model can affect timing and cost, particularly when they involve significant architectural changes.

Is cheaper always better?

Not necessarily.

Two renders may look similar at first glance, but the quality of modelling, accuracy of materials, lighting and attention to architectural detail can vary considerably.

It is worth checking exactly what is included in a quotation, particularly modelling, image resolution, revisions and final deliverables.

How can you prepare for a quote?

Send through your architectural plans, existing 3D files if available, a brief description of the project and examples of the style you're hoping to achieve.

At RP Images, we work from design information to create accurate, considered architectural visualisations for residential, commercial and property development projects.

Planning a project? Contact RP Images with your drawings and requirements so we can discuss the visualisation work involved.
